Steam rose from the desk drawers. This suggested a hot day at the office.

In the fall months people had been impatient to take out their skis, encouraging the snow to fall, but with little result.

They had learnt instead to debate, write and play music.

In the government offices magicians and jokers gained control.

But, the results were laughable.

Easing into a new pair of metallic boots, Dansinger stated the obvious ” why don’t we just focus on good ideas and discard bad ideas?”.

A formula, environment, culture and tradition of good benefits, generally beneficial results of any new plan with the immediate rejection of anything that even hinted of “collateral damage” was suggested as the remedy to all ills and evils.

Simple ideas are best, as many an engineer knows well. They also know that simplicity is hard to achieve.

So the moral of the story could be, don’t doubt your own ideas, especially if you have ever rejected one of them as being “too simple”.

Apricots had to be arranged in a circle before anyone would speak.

The ideas they had created since they last met were crazy. And they were good.

But something told us we should always be sure to serve apricots at an important meeting.

We were drifting.

Then, they managed to get the motor started.

There, in the middle of the lake, the mountains soaring above us like rocky escalators to another land, we were moving again.

The cheese we bought earlier had started to smell, later we would realize that it was a good thing.

The gospel singers were performing Mowtown songs from a previous century.

Dissolving our cares in a vat of maple syrup and feeling good about the fruit we would eat, we tied the boat to the mooring and walked along the shoreline.

Voyages of memory.

She waited to whisper in my ear.

They don’t do things the way they used to, it seems.

But the new manager is so nice.

Then after the long wait to be called, the dogs and cats retreated with their owners.

They had little choice, bread was buttered on one side only.

But aren’t we lucky?

We just say yes or no.

And when we can, we invent the terms of engagement….and endearment.
