Watching the waves build or subside in intensity, the runners hugged the strip of sand closest to the eyelash-like kiss of the sandy beach.

Dressed in the visible spectrum of colors, equipped with dynamic-spring running shoes and aerodynamic headgear, these sports personalities were a familiar morning sight.

The number of tourists gathering at this early hour of the day, many traveling across oceans and continents to see the spectacle, was increasing by the day.

Soon ice cream vendors are expected to assemble to cash in on this captive audience.

A new flavor with the puzzling name of “Runny Ruminations” has been announced.

Having a nice day?

Not the most original or funny of questions.

It is recommended by the committee that you ask questions like “do you like wearing mismatched socks?” or “is the momentum created in the economy by a .25% interest rate drop a good thing on a Monday?”.

Other original questions such as ” do you need an oil change?” are not the sort of inspired boost to communication we are steering towards.

Committees can be unreliable in contributing to progress, but create a sense of importance for their members.

Twice a day for six days, then at your discretion.

That’s the number of “Thank You” utterances.

Whether this is the recommended frequency, the bare minimum for the survival of the human race or part of a fitness and wellness program remains a mystery.

And, it may seem unimportant compared to the forthcoming return to the screen of programs such as Game of Thrones, Northern Exposure or Magnum P.I.

But, what if it is the key to everything? The master key?

“You can lead with that” she said.

I didn’t know whether she meant the horse and the reins, or the extraordinary words I had just used to describe politicians and their psychology.

Some films lead (!) us to the same type of confusion, or at the very least a bit of pondering, by failing to express an opinion.

Of course you may think this is a good thing, but it is not.

Presenting a series of events without moral or result, is an incomplete story.

The day ahead gives you the chance to state a case, your case, if you wish.

Everything is ready. We’re still polishing all the surfaces just in case we can make things even better.

Downstairs the orange peel and fresh pine sprigs have created a sort of delicate aroma-haze which suggests “otherness” and themes of elsewhere.

Time has wrapped itself up. Long labors of devoted helpers and paid professionals working together have produced something you will, I am sure, consider a masterpiece.

We could say, you are lucky. A treat. A memory in the making.
