"Wisdom and inspiration: thought provoking, humourous, delightful, guru-like, quirky, energizing, enabling, challenging, alerting, awakening….the way individuals, teams and groups start every day as a Great Day" – The Replies Book

Archives for August 2022

Stranded in paradise they chose the all-inclusive tour.

Highway feeder roads, encampments under flyover Bridges’s, factory loading bays – all were featured.

Lounging by the azure pool filled with creme de menthe, we thought about this and found laughing and crying both suited the moment.

High above, a vulture soared, coasted and cruised.

We’ll save the best for later.

I started to race against a clock I couldn’t see.

Someone, somewhere, somehow, achieved three things before breakfast.

I desperately hoped I would lose count.

Then, frankly, I relaxed and out came the book, the symphony and words of comfort to a stressed friend.

All it took was a phone call and a quick drive to voice reassurance in-person, based on genuine principals, to save a life.

Worthwhile stuff.

Nothing to say, so can you spare an hour or so…over a drink or…

Time and again, and again, then some more.

We tell stories on Fridays and remember them on Mondays years later.

The rain and the beat on tin roofs.

Trying out new paint brushes.

Easing into the paragraph.

Chopping rare onions.

All in the name of saying something, in a good way.

Don’t be silly

There’s a melted piece of chocolate under your chin.

The hills are a moving feast of wheat, goats and sheep.

We found ways of mixing materials to create a surreal, or perhaps it was real, life cocktail.

One day burrows into another subtly and invisibly, like silk falling off a shelf.

They never stop to worry about the government.

We feel silky and we feel tough at the same time.

Surely…everyone does!

The noise was…intrusive.

Yes, we used every “techique” to virtually ignore this and turn it from an anoyance to a treat, or at least into a neutral event.

Smell is rarely painful…yes I know that one is obnoxious!

Appalling sights are mostly bearable and can pass the leave it behind – forget-about-it test.

So what do we want to quiet and calm?

Our list: noisy motorcycles, leafblowers, roarty “i’m super tough” exhaust tones (usually on super ordinary cars!), people shrieking on mobile phone calls in otherwise cool and collected settings.

What’s your list?
