"Wisdom and inspiration: thought provoking, humourous, delightful, guru-like, quirky, energizing, enabling, challenging, alerting, awakening….the way individuals, teams and groups start every day as a Great Day" – The Replies Book

Looking forward and leaning in the wind a bit.

Seemed “blowy”. A word that never sounds right but is very descriptive.

Trees were bending like plucked harpsichord strings.

Leaves were moving like expelled shotgun pellets.

Two centenarians were eyeing each other amorously.

A baby directed a dog through the park with better command than canine-doting adults.

The future is filled with bright colors.

Just because it’s so.

There are times when an honest person can be appreciated when they say “just because”.

But isn’t it horrible and crappy most of the time!?

There are good reasons, I’ll explain later.

Now what a perfectly acceptable statement…from someone you know and respect.

And there’s the rub!

Nothing to say.

Everything to communicate.

Setting the baseline, the parameters or range of subjects.

Which ideas and which sentiments – can be decided in advance.

The conversation will likely go elsewhere.

Having a plan ready to be abandoned sometimes helps things flow into a spontaneous stand-up improv occasion.

And that is fun we think.

Sideways at the peninsula.

Not everything worked the same way that day.

The plants seemed strained and waiting to bend after a night of strong winds.

The guests looked suspicious or perhaps it was a look of surprise.

The pool was overfilled.

The clock was slow.

The cars were silent and lacked the usually rorty exhaust note.

It was the official and actual Day of the End of One and Beginning of the New Season.

The watershed moment can be so very full with confusion.

My clothes had changed.

These were not the warm set I’d put on earlier in the day.

I was sure I had not gone back and chosen a new outfit.

There I was in red striped pants and a gold jacket, looking like a million dollars, a showman and ostentatious celebrity all at once.

For someone thrilled by the idea of a faux polar expedition this was unsuitable.

And winter, judging by the level of the cheap thermometer tacked to the gate, was in determined presence.

Sometimes you have to go with the flow, improvise, laugh at the peculiarity of the situation.

That was the moment to smile.
