There have been times when such clarity has eluded me, I confess.
The aim I think, is to feel crystal clear, situation normal, thrilled and calm all at once.

If you are not worth at least three million Drifwags we should talk no more.
But the young women said she would be worth five times that much but in two years and only if she married the daughter now.
It took us a day of thought and consultation with wise elders.
They advised “don’t be an ass, they are in love, the future is bright and you’ll be alright”.
We cannot disguise the balance of our bank account, we eat well every day.
We have to be absolutely sure of your intentions for our daughter.

Playing in the outside gazebo while we made up instant poems.
Some were good and are now published in their third edition and fourth reprint.
Others rose on electronic media and then faded into a digital archive of obscurity.
Every now and then someone digs up one of those obscure concoctions and makes a hit song of it.
