Write the wrong word twice, erase and start with a horizon as wide as the sky.

Not a good start to the writing retreat. At least that’s how it felt to begin with.

Then two days later I’d written two novels, a volume of short stories, seven marine articles and an ode to learning.

It was a dream that seamed to last for days.

Driven wild by the startling golden light and the rustling of paper plates.

Some picnics are different.

Others are the same, comfortably predictably but by no means a surprise.

In the afternoon they went hunting for blackberries and once gathered, laced them with maple syrup.

Or…did they?

We trust the storyteller. So yes, they did!
